As the synergy between Sony subsidiaries looks set to increase, the Japanese giant is plotting a new line of consumer electronics under the INZONE brand name. This, according to journalist Tom Henderson, will initially span three new headsets and two gaming monitors – the former of which has already started to leak.
It’s the monitors that piqued our attention first and foremost, as it’s been several years since the company launched the PlayStation 3D Display, which it marketed in conjunction with its company-wide stereoscopic push. The panels, which the firm will allegedly pitch as “perfect for PS5”, will come in 4K and 1080p variations, and will have some unique features.
In addition to the low latency you’d expect from a gaming monitor, they’ll also apparently include “gaming assist features”, such as a frames-per-second ticker, HDR tone mapping, and an “auto genre picture mode”. We’re assuming the latter will automatically toggle between different settings depending on what you’re playing – assuming you enable the feature, of course.
There’ll also be some form of brightness equaliser, which will allegedly help with your visibility in dark areas. And you’ll be able to track your playtime, if you want to. All of these features sound quite disposable to us, but they’re bullet-points that we suppose will help the organisation market them alongside its console.
It’s not just monitors, though. As mentioned, the firm is also bringing out a trio of headsets, under the INZONE umbrella. These have already leaked, and all follow the same design philosophy. The INZONE H3 is said to be a cheap, wired headset, with 360-degree spatial sound. It’s followed by the INZONE H7, which is wireless, while the INZONE H9 is the more premium choice, with noise cancelling.
All of the items are set to be announced next week, with rumours of a premium, pro-grade DualSense also swirling. With Sony now offering a direct point-of-sale storefront through its PlayStation Direct website, it’ll be interesting to see whether it ups its output of peripherals and accessories. In the previous generation, it outsourced to manufacturers like Nacon, but it always felt like a mistake not to bring more of these types of items in-house – especially when you take into account the company’s robust electronics department.

I kinda like the H7. Probably not cheap though.
Why bother buying a ps5 if you're going to be using a 1080p monitor I thought the whole point of upgrading was for stuff like 4k resolution
Nailing the HDR could make the monitors very attractive. Most gaming monitors only display a very limited range here. TVs are way better in that regard. But those will probably be priced at a premium like the rest. The controller though: I want to see more of that, I might be interested.
I hope we get a price on the headsets soon. At the moment I’m thinking of picking up the arctis 7x…as it works with both Ps5 and series x. I’m assume these will just work on PlayStation?
@Would_you_kindly To play the latest games? To take advantage of the SSD? It's not all about graphics. Some people might think 4K is unnecessary, I guess.
“perfect for PS5”, will come in 4K and 1080p
Will they make a black & white model, perfect for PS5 games.🙄
@RainbowGazelle If it's not a huge screen, 1080p might be just fine.
@PhantomMenace84 I've got a Sony bravia with stereoscopic 3D but pretty much no games use it so it's useless lol
@Would_you_kindly If you can only afford a PS5 or a good tv/monitor it is better to buy the PS5 IMHO. Lol, I currently have a PS5 in a 1080p monitor and a PS4 and Series S in a 720p. Works better than not having the consoles! I have to save for a better monitor though.
Perfect monitor for PS5, PC, productivity and everything in between ? LG CX 48"
Want immersivity? Nothing tops the available OLED screen "real estate", when used as a monitor, not even the much more expensive 49" ultra wide models. Not to mention that most games fill the screen with no distortions because of the much more normal 16:9 format. And you have a lot more visual space on the vertical axis too, while keeping almost the same width as a 49" ultra wide monitor. No more FOV trouble.
Want HDR? No monitor tops TV's in this department, not for the same price anyway. Providing 1000, 1500 even 2000 nits without the proper contrast to back it up is not HDR, no matter how much monitor producers try to make you believe it.
Want infinite contrast, blackest of blacks? Of course, OLED provides.
Want HDMI 2.1, 4k@120Hz and VRR? You got it!
Want TV or Netflix on the same screed with a flick of the remote? Available too!
Want compatibility with PS5? Automatic detection of the console by the screen, switch automatically to the console's input when you open it, turn on automatically Game Mode and HDR when you switch to PS5, control the console with the TV's remote, tie the open/close of the console to the screen and vice versa? Heh... you bet your arse it provides!
Oh, hell no... it's not an LG commercial... just a case for "good TV models trump expensive monitors for the same money in more ways than one, every day of the gorram week".
@belmont well yeah that's true I only have a 1080p TV lol I'd just rather not upgrade until I can afford to get both a ps5 & a TV that has 4k , hdr , vrr & supports 120fps so I'd be making the most of the console
Might get one depending on the price and screen size
120 hz and VRR should be standard for Sony going forward. No 120? No VRR? No sale.
Those TVs are always crap. It's just promotion. Philips had one last year developed with the aid of Microsoft for a perfect tv to play the XSX on and it was *****. Unless it's an OLED and QD OLED it will only be an average lcd tv with the Sony taxe on top
Got my eyes lined up for buying the new Sony xm5’s in preparation for the Callisto Protocol
…course with the energy bills soon approaching all dreams of them being bought are likely to be quickly broken!
@Shinnok789 I agree! The perfect monitor for my PS5 & Series X has been my 48" LG C1 OLED hands down! A few months ago I bought the Samsung G7 27" gaming monitor because it has hdmi 2.1, VRR, ect. It didn't have built in speakers so I bought some Bose speakers for it. The total was about $900. Around the same time I upgraded my TV to the LG C1 77", so I knew the TV was amazing already. Best Buy had a sale on tv's and I noticed the 48" C1 was on sale for $1000. So I ended up taking the gaming monitor and speakers back and replaced it with the 48" C1. Best decision I've made! Once you go OLED, you can't go back!
@Voltan Exactly.
Man, that Motorstorm pic is annoying.
Isn't it a bit odd they are not marketing them under the Sony name to capitalize on brand recognition and stand out from the crowd?
@TheCollector316 I completely agree and was thinking the same thing. Maybe they will see how the launch goes against the competition that they are already up against when it comes to monitors. If successful, I could see them changing it.
@Bleachedsmiles Same here. Been looking at the 7p+ but am hesitant because of the lack of game/chat mix. I'm assuming, these being Sony, they'll incorporate that function.
It's shaped like the PSPGo...it's gotta be good, right?
HDR tonemapping? So not actually HDR then?
@TheCollector316 They will be presumably, the article link to headphones shows they have the Sony logo on them, so likely the same for monitors. It'll be Sony INZONE.
Most gaming monitors, even expensive ones, have poor HDR implementation. If they can nail this, the other features are there (VRR etc) and the price is right, then they may be interesting.
GIMME THAT PRO CONTROLLER BOIIII!! I stopped playing PS5 games when I heard there might be back paddles in a future controller, it's just the best thing to have in a gamepad.
@OmegaStriver
Annoying how much I miss it.
Annoying how bad sony treated Evolution studio
Annoying how there's literally nothing as epic as MS Apocalypse on the market anymore.
@DTfeartheBEARD ive just got the 55" C1 and its amazing compared to my old qled. Games just pop more.
SMH at the TV elitism here. I have both a 4K HDR tv and a gaming monitor. The TV will always be a better option, but don't act like gaming monitors are so much worse. Mine is an MSI 32 inch 4K HDR monitor and I use it more frequently than the tv for the simple reason that the tv is occupied by my wife and daughter. Yes, HDR is not as eye-popping as on a tv screen, but it still makes a difference. The monitor is a perfect substitute when you have a small room and need a sub 40 inch screen to fit in there.
@tofuman86
The PSP Go was great (I still use it from time to time over ny original PSP)
It was ahead of its time going digital only......now if the TV's were that forward thinking, they will be great.
To be fair the headsets kinda appeal to me (but only eliminated because of the PSVR2)
Whenever the main TV is being used, Ive been known to switch to play the game on a PSVR/or Play a PSVR game.
It would be kinda useful in that situation but presuming the PSVR2 will have the same feature as standard.....then they are headsets are DOA.
Id probably prefer a wireless remote play on a different TV dongle (current remote play lags too much and has too much artifacts......though it could be my 100mbps unpload 20mbps download causing it)
@Shinnok789 I use the same set up.. CX 48 & PS5 ,, It's awesome!!
@Kidfunkadelic83 I got burned(in) by OLED with the B6, so I had a healthy fear of buying that technology again. But after being disappointed with the Samsung QN90A, and not blown away by the Sony X95J, I bit the bullet and got the 55" C1. And I love it. To my surprise its brightness is on-par with the QLED's, and I decided that if I get burn-in again, well, then I'll be ready for the latest tech when that happens.
@eagletrippin yeah that was my fear with going to an OLED but im continously turning it off now whenever im not using it instead of leaving it on pause whilst i eat etc.
@Kidfunkadelic83 What games have you played on it? I was thinking about getting the 55" C1 because it's only $100 more than my 48", but it was a little too big for my desk. I know you said you don't like playing horror games. But you should definitely try RE2, RE3, RE7, & RE Village on the OLED, they all look amazing on the C1. Well everything looks amazing on that TV lol.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Yup, same here. Ironically that was one of my main gripes about OLED's, is it takes some level of "babysitting" in order to prevent burn-in. (Granted, there are some built-in features to help prevent burn-in, as well.) I love tech, though, so if I get burn-in again in a couple years, I'll be on the lookout for latest tech then (updated QD-OLED? or even micro-OLED?😲)
@eagletrippin I don't worry about it, but I know it can be a concern. I've had Samsung Galaxy Note phones for years with no burn in, and they all have AMOLED screens. Same with my original PS Vita with the OLED screen & Nintendo Switch OLED(the Switch
i play daily since it's release) The LG C1 has a gallery app where you can download Screen savers that constantly change if you step away from the TV for a little while. I usually turn my C1 off if I get up to go get something to eat, or use the restroom, ect. Plus it helps if you don't constantly play the same games or watch the same TV shows with still images in the corners of the screen. I never have the OLED pixel brightness above 75, I usually have it at 50. Which is more than bright enough for me. But I know everyone has different preferences. Anyways, may you have no screen burn in and enjoy your TV! 😁
@DTfeartheBEARD I was supposed to get the 48" but i "accidentally" ordered the 55 whilst the wife was away in spain 😂😂. Ive actually just started playing resi 2, about 2 hours in and apart from a couple of hairy moments its not been too bad. I just take it slowly tho😂. Not met Mr X yet tho 😬
GT7, Spider man and mostly RPG's. It does look very nice.
Btw, nice beard, man👌👌
@Kidfunkadelic83 Thank you! I appreciate it. Are you playing RE2 in RT mode or high frame rate? Unfortunately my Platinum trophy transfered over from the PS4 version, so I didn't have a reason to play it again on PS5, but I played a little because I love the adaptive triggers on the Dualsense. However, I didn't have all the achievements on the Series X version, So I ended up playing it a few times on there lol. High frame rate mode is easily my favorite of the 3 options. VRR makes it run great!
@DTfeartheBEARD i think ive got it in ray tracinv with VRR on. Im one of those peole that unfortunately dont seem to notice framerates etc. Maybe i should try it in 120 mode and see if i notice it or not.
@PhantomMenace84 i'm curious to how many of those they sold , i bought mine when they dropped the price of it when they were trying to sell what they had left. and then after that the price increased a ton because all of the sudden people were looking for it. i wouldn't bother selling mine but i've seen people ask for 300-600$ + for a used one.
i had the PS3 3D display for my PS3 and those did not last long broke in a few weeks i think Sony discontinued them. Anyway i own the LG C1 and if the Sony does not offer as much than i will not buy it , has to be so much better than the LG C1 imo.
@Yoop ya they stopped making them , i got lucky mine didn't really have too many issues , once and a while it would flicker but for the most part it ran pretty well for what i paid for it.
@twitchtvpat man i brought 2 of those and they both broke came with the Motorsport game and 3D glasses the response time on the monitor was good
Motorstorm pic is unnecessary and triggering. Please remove. It’s too soon. RIP great game series.
@Chaotic_Goat What utter crap, you are clueless. QD OLED is not LCD you muppet
@marty8370 where did I say it was?
I said if these monitors/tvs are not oled or qd oled then they will be simple lcd screen. Where in that sentence do I say that an oled or qd oled is a lcd
@PhantomMenace84 i'm temped to connect my ps3 to it and just use it for that since i'm not really doing anything with it. i feel like all of the sudden people wanted it after they stopped making it , but when it was in every store no one really cared about it.
@Shinnok789 This right here people, THIS!
Can't go wrong with an up to date 120hz LG, most underrated (imo) TV brand out there! I used to work in an LG screen factory that made screens for Sony and Samsung high end models, and all the same quality screens were used in LG budget range! Says it all really.
